Actress So Yi-hyun confessed on television that she has been seriously considering having a third child, despite her husband In Gyo-jin’s firm opposition to the idea.
According to reporting by Xports News, the 41-year-old appeared as a special MC on the October 11 broadcast of SBS variety show ‘My Little Old Boy’ (known in Korea as ‘Miwoosae’). Fellow MC Seo Jang-hoon raised the topic first, saying she had admitted she could not take her eyes off children passing by and was contemplating a “late” third baby in her 40s.
So Yi-hyun confirmed it without hesitation. She said she “really wanted to have a third child” and had even begged her husband, only to be told it was “absolutely not” happening.
Asked why In Gyo-jin objects, she relayed his reasoning: their kids are grown now, so he can go out for exercise, have a drink, and travel without constant parenting. “Life finally got easier,” she quoted him as saying, “so why would we go back to that?”
She added that he notices when childcare duties keep her stuck at home, admitting that she still longs to hold babies, smell them, and touch their tiny folded arms. “It’s hard, but that was the prettiest time,” she said. Kim Seung-soo’s mother drew laughs by suggesting the third should be a son this time.
So Yi-hyun married actor In Gyo-jin in October 2014. The couple welcomed their first daughter Ha-eun the following year and their second daughter So-eun in 2017. Whether In Gyo-jin will change his mind remains to be seen.
