Yang Hong-won Cheating Accuser Apologizes in Messages After Agency Threatens Legal Action cover

The person who accused rapper Yang Hong-won of cheating has posted apology-style messages, days after his agency answered with criminal complaints, according to News1 on October 27.

The messages were posted on October 25 by a person believed to be the original accuser, identified only as A, and included screenshots of a KakaoTalk conversation with a contact saved under the name Yang Hong-won. In them, A wrote, “Sorry for wasting your time because of me. I take psychiatric medication, and maybe that’s why I lost my mind.” A added, “I’m truly sorry. What should I do?”

The reply from the contact saved as Yang Hong-won read, “Okay, I understand. Tomorrow, my lawyer will contact you. Let’s wrap this up well.” News1 reported the exchange as posted by the person believed to be A, and the identity behind the account has not been independently confirmed.

The posts mark a sharp turn from October 23, when A first alleged online that a newly married groom had gone to a motel with a woman. The claim spread quickly, just five days after Yang’s wedding.

Yang’s agency, AP Alchemy, pushed back the same week, saying the claims differed from the facts and that the materials presented had been maliciously edited. The agency said it had filed complaints against the accuser for extortion, violation of the stalking punishment law, and defamation by stating false facts.

The agency said the artist drank at the accuser’s home after a performance, was told to leave for a motel she designated, and, heavily drunk with nowhere to go, went there to sleep; the woman, also with nowhere to go, accompanied him. It said he fell asleep immediately, and she later asked the accuser for help rather than risk physical contact while waking him.

The woman at the center of the dispute has also filed a criminal complaint against A, according to the report. She was quoted as saying, “Really, nothing happened. He slept on the bed, and I slept on the floor right away.”

The messages do not settle the dispute. They show an accuser sounding remorseful after legal action was threatened, while the agency’s complaints and the woman’s own complaint remain in play. Yang married model Won Hyun-joo on October 18, so the allegation surfaced in the first week of his marriage and has since unfolded almost entirely through social media posts and agency statements.
