A2O LITE Grabs First-Ever Music Show Win with 'NEON' Just 7 Days After Debut as Lee Soo-man Congratulates Them cover

Rookie girl group A2O LITE has won the first music show trophy of their career — just seven days after debuting with “NEON.” On the October 20 broadcast of SBS Life’s “The Show,” the nine-member group took first place with their debut digital single, defeating FLARE U’s “Bloom” and Sung Han Bin’s “UNDEAD” with 7,331 points, Soompi reported.

The win is especially notable because the group debuted without a physical album, meaning the trophy was earned purely on the strength of the song’s streaming performance. Following the announcement, A2O LITE delivered a live encore stage with clear high notes and harmonies, drawing praise online for rock-solid vocals and relaxed stage presence. “You can feel their confidence in the encore,” read one representative fan comment, with others praising the members’ harmonies and stable live singing.

On the same day, A2O LITE posted a video to their official social channels showing a congratulatory video call with key producer Lee Soo-man. In the clip, the members cheered while holding up their first-place trophy, and Lee responded with “축하해” (congratulations), telling them, “오늘 음식 많이 먹도록 해. 먹을 만해” — “Make sure to eat well today. You’ve earned it” — while flashing a finger heart. He added, “나도 열심히 하겠다” (“I’ll work hard too”), Ten Asia reported via Naver.

The victory caps a record-breaking debut week for “NEON.” The song entered Melon’s TOP100 at No. 77 on the evening of October 13, then shot to No. 1 at 11 p.m. on October 14 — roughly 29 hours after release, the fastest climb to the top for any debut song since the chart’s August 2021 revamp. It then held No. 1 for six consecutive days starting October 15. The track also topped Spotify’s South Korea chart and YouTube Music’s music video chart, reached No. 4 on Apple Music’s “Today’s Top 100: Global,” took No. 1 on Apple Music’s top singles charts in six regions, and swept the new-song, popular-song, and music video charts on China’s QQ Music.

A2O LITE is the flagship girl group of A2O Entertainment and Lee Soo-man’s first domestic project since leaving SM Entertainment. After selling his 14.8% SM stake to HYBE in 2023 with a three-year domestic non-compete clause — which expired at the end of February — Lee has returned to the Korean industry in earnest, also launching rookie boy group A2O SOUL alongside them.

A2O LITE will continue their debut promotions on music shows this week, with more stages expected to follow their breakout first win.
