Baek Ji-young got candid about her weight journey, revealing she once tipped the scales at 60.3kg — her all-time high — and sharing the brutally honest comment she once received at a public bathhouse.
The story came up in a new video posted to the singer’s YouTube channel on October 10, filmed in the United States where she is preparing for a concert, according to Sports Chosun. The video’s title references the price of a luxury yacht she rode in Los Angeles.
During a meal with staff, Baek revealed she has lost 5kg over the past six months and currently weighs 49kg. “At 56kg people couldn’t tell, but once I dropped to 55kg they noticed,” she said.
She then recalled visiting a bathhouse for the first time with her dancer. After booking a scrub session, the scrubber asked whether she was singer Baek Ji-young — and when she confirmed, blurted out, “Why are you so fat?”
Far from being offended, Baek burst out laughing. “She said it in a way that didn’t offend me at all. I laughed so hard the whole bathhouse was shaking,” she said. “I told her, ‘I’m going to lose weight because of you.’”
The anecdote drew laughs for her honest, unfiltered charm, with Baek taking the blunt remark completely in stride.
