MMA fighter and television personality Choo Sung-hoon has announced he will temporarily stop all of his social media activity, revealing that someone he deeply loved and respected has died.
According to a JTBC report, Choo shared the news himself on his SNS account on the 11th. He wrote that the person “took their own life” while still in their 40s, describing it as “far too young” an age to go.
“My heart aches so much, and I’m so sad I don’t know what to say,” he wrote. “I don’t know what pain they went through or what happened — only they know. But I wish they had held on just a little longer. I still can’t believe it, and my heart hurts too much. I want to see them once more.”
He also announced that he would be pausing all SNS activity for the time being. The post marks his second bereavement in about a month: last month, Choo shared the news of his uncle’s passing, someone who had supported him. Fans have been sending him messages of support after the back-to-back losses.
Choo is currently focused on training for his retirement bout at Black Combat 17, scheduled for November 21 at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome. Apart from variety programs he has already finished filming, he said he will devote himself to preparations and step away from social media in the meantime.
