RJ Mitte, best known as Walter “Flynn” White Jr. on AMC’s Breaking Bad, has died at the age of 34. According to MyDaily, entertainment outlet TMZ reported on October 12 (local time) that the actor had passed away, and county officials confirmed to TMZ that Mitte died in Texas.
The exact cause of death is currently under investigation, the county official told TMZ.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte,” his representative said in a statement.
Mitte appeared in all five seasons of Breaking Bad, playing Walter White Jr., the son of Bryan Cranston’s Walter White. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of three, he drew on his own experience to bring authenticity to the role, and the performance earned him critical acclaim.
Off screen, he was a tireless disability rights advocate. He served as an ambassador for the United Cerebral Palsy Association and Shriners Children’s Hospital, chaired The Mitte Foundation, and represented disabled actors within the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). His other acting credits include Switched at Birth, Guardians of Justice, and Now Apocalypse.
In October 2025, Mitte announced his engagement to Kennedy Suarez. In a People interview at the time, he said, “Finding a life partner who makes me want to be a better person in everything I do — Kennedy is everything to me.”
No official statement beyond the representative’s remarks was available.
