Han Ye-ri is set to headline the upcoming black comedy “1301 Knows” (lit. “Room 1301 Knows”), playing a lawmaker’s secretary who gets swept into an unpredictable incident.
According to Sports Dong-a reporter Lee Seung-mi, the actress takes the lead role of Bang Mi-jin in the film, which began shooting in September.
The story opens with a mysterious incident inside a Seoul hotel suite, following people hiding their own secrets and desires as they slide into a situation they cannot undo. The film is described as a black comedy that mixes tight psychological games with unpredictable twists, sharp humor, and mounting tension.
Bang Mi-jin, a secretary to a ruling-party lawmaker, stumbles onto an unexpected incident in the hotel room where a secret meeting was arranged. As surprise figures keep appearing, she ends up trapped in a situation spiraling out of control — staying on edge, scanning everyone around her, and hunting for a way out. Her shifting emotions and unreadable motives are expected to drive much of the film’s tension.
Han Ye-ri has shown a wide acting range across films including “As One,” “Sea Fog,” “Worst Woman,” and “The Table,” as well as the drama “One Spring Night.” Her turn as the resilient yet delicate Monica in “Minari” brought her worldwide attention.
Filming is underway, and attention is now on how Han Ye-ri handles the black comedy’s fast pace and sudden turns — and what complex sides of Bang Mi-jin she will bring to the screen.
