god’s Park Jun-hyung has revisited the group’s debut-era pay, saying his settlement from god’s first album did not even reach 10 million won, or about $7,550.
Park told the story on Tuesday on “The Brian,” the YouTube channel run by Fly to the Sky’s Brian. Asked whether the members had received etiquette training at the time, Park replied, “There was no manner education — we were just thugs,” before turning to the settlement.
He asked Brian, “Back then, didn’t we promote for about three or four months? We worked so hard.” Brian said Fly to the Sky had received 2 million won then, and noted that they had won a rookie award. Park said god had still done pretty well for themselves.
Park added that the money came later: “The third and fourth albums were huge hits — that’s when the money started coming in. Before that, we weren’t making any.” It was a look back at first-generation idol pay, not a new dispute.
The members have discussed the figures before. On producer Na Young-seok’s “Channel Fifteen Nights” last December, Park guessed he had received 10 million won or 12 million won, but Kim Tae-woo corrected him: “To be precise, we each received 13.6 million won.”
Park then gave his personal figure: only 9.8 million won, after a repair cost was deducted when he and Yoon Kye-sang took their agency head’s car out and blew a tire. That explains his latest retelling — below 10 million won is his personal settlement, not a group total.
Park also advised Fly to the Sky, who are preparing their first full-group comeback in about eight years, their first since their 10th album in 2019. He urged them not to treat it as a chart competition: “You’re not coming back to compete in the charts, are you? What you’re doing now is fan service.”
The remarks drew attention because god, who debuted in 1999, became “the nation’s group” with hits including “To My Mother,” “I Love You and I Remember,” “Lie” and “Road.” Park announced no new project or formal claim, but added another first-hand detail to how a defining first-generation group started out.
