ILLIT's 'BREAK EVEN' Tops Hanteo Daily Chart with Record 382,991 First-Day Sales cover

ILLIT has opened its new album era with a career-best first day, selling 382,991 copies of fifth mini album “BREAK EVEN” on its release day, October 26, and topping Hanteo Chart’s daily album chart.

According to a Dispatch report citing Hanteo Chart, the first-day figure is the best opening day of any ILLIT album so far. It is about 40 percent higher than the first-day sales of the group’s fourth mini album, which sold 276,145 copies on its first day, showing how quickly the group’s album-buying audience has grown.

The title track, “You’re Under Arrest,” is climbing just as fast on streaming charts. It entered Melon’s Top 100 at No. 72 at 7 p.m. on October 26 and jumped 53 places to No. 19 by 11 p.m. the same night. It also reached the upper ranks of the real-time charts on Bugs and Genie.

The early momentum is not limited to South Korea. In Japan, both “You’re Under Arrest” and the previous title track “It’s Me” appeared on Line Music’s real-time chart, while every track from “BREAK EVEN” ranked on AWA Music’s real-time rising chart. The music video passed 4 million YouTube views within 12 hours and ranked on YouTube’s trending music chart in 19 countries and regions, including the United States and the United Kingdom.

The strong start follows ILLIT’s comeback showcase in Seoul on October 26, where the group unveiled “BREAK EVEN” at Blue Square in the Yongsan District. The album is the group’s first new release in six months, and its title borrows the economics term for the break-even point. Alongside the title track, it contains “Super in Love,” “More,” and “Pop.”

That comeback built on a run that has made ILLIT one of the most closely watched fourth-generation girl groups since its March 2024 debut with “Magnetic.” Its previous release, “It’s Me,” climbed to No. 2 on Melon’s Top 100 and spent 19 consecutive weeks on Billboard’s global chart, a bar the first-day sales of “BREAK EVEN” have now cleared on the album side.

No separate official statement on the sales figures was included in the report, with the numbers attributed to Hanteo Chart. ILLIT is scheduled to release a performance video for “You’re Under Arrest” through Mnet M2’s Studio Choom later on October 27, giving the title track its next showcase as its chart climb continues.
