Singer Jang Hanbyul has dropped a new single, ‘Miya’, his first new music in about five months. The emotional ballad was released on October 12 across online music streaming sites.
According to Sports Kyunghyang, the title draws from an affectionate habit of calling out the final syllable ‘mi’ in familiar Korean names like Eun-mi or Young-mi. The song leans into Jang Hanbyul’s deep tone and delicate emotional delivery, matching the season’s mood.
The track was shaped by a hitmaker lineup working as the project team ‘Magic Flute’: lyricist Lee Geon-woo, known for ‘Paper Crane’ and ‘Amor Fati’, composer Kim Sun-min of Marronnier’s ‘Cocktail Love’ fame, and Choi Jae-eun.
Jang Hanbyul shared his attachment to the song on social media, saying it is a song he truly cherishes and expressing hope that it lingers in listeners’ hearts. He asked his fandom, Eunha-su, to look forward to the release and listen together on the day.
The new single follows his May hit mission song ‘You Are My Star’ from MBN’s ‘Mumyeong Jeonseol’. Its first live performance is scheduled for his debut solo concert, ‘THE STAR IS BORN’, on October 31 and November 1 at Sejong University’s Daeyang Hall in Seoul.
That concert has already sold out every session, including added dates, so the premiere of ‘Miya’ is set to be one of the weekend’s most anticipated moments. The digital single is now available on all major music sites.
