Jang Hang-jun Reveals Bong Joon-ho and Park Chan-wook Congratulated His New Show 'Geojang Hang-jun' with Hilarious Video Messages cover

Director Jang Hang-jun kicked off his new SBS variety show ‘Geojang Hang-jun’ with a surprise: congratulatory video messages from directors Bong Joon-ho and Park Chan-wook, aired during the show’s first episode on October 15.

In his message, Bong said Jang’s time as a “master” was inevitable. “The thing that was bound to come has come. He deserves to be called a master,” Bong said. Park also heaped praise on his longtime friend. “I felt envious and jealous a lot. I kept marveling at how smart he is,” Park said. Song Eun-i, watching the messages, joked in surprise: “Is that AI?”

Park added one request for Jang’s future projects. “I hope he’ll make another film like ‘The Man Living With the King,’” Park said. “But please don’t make comedies. Comedy is my territory.”

Bong added that Jang always introduces himself on the phone as “Master Jang Hang-jun,” and said he hopes they’ll soon be close enough to call each other casually. “I’m a fan,” Bong said with a laugh, before catching himself: “What am I even saying right now?”

Jang took the praise in stride and fired back with jokes of his own. “Lately he keeps calling me,” Jang said of Park. “Director Park Chan-wook asks me to lend him money. It’s annoying. That Cannes Park is annoying.”

Jang also revealed that Bong consults him about his next project. “Junho-bong asks me what he should do next,” Jang said. “I told him: ‘Director Junho-bong, figure it out yourself. Try standing on your own for once.’”

‘Geojang Hang-jun’ premiered its first episode on October 15. The show marks Jang’s latest variety venture following his work as a director and screenwriter.
