Jang Na-ra Returns as Law Firm CEO Cha Eun-kyung in 'Good Partner 2' Ahead of November 20 Premiere cover

Jang Na-ra is officially back in the courtroom. On October 26, SBS unveiled new character stills for its upcoming Friday-Saturday drama ‘Good Partner 2,’ showing Jang Na-ra as Cha Eun-kyung, the star divorce lawyer who has now risen to managing partner of her own firm. The stills mark the character’s first return to viewers in two years, ahead of the drama’s premiere on November 20 at 9:50 p.m. KST.

The new images capture a visibly more seasoned Cha Eun-kyung. In one still, she wears the relaxed, elegant smile of a woman named one of the year’s “Power Women,” having built Law Firm Rebom into a 50-person divorce-specialist practice in just three years. In others, she sits before her “Managing Partner” nameplate, eyes sharp as she pores over case files and delivers arguments in court without a flicker of hesitation. The workaholic energy that defined her in Season 1 is intact, but it now carries the poise of a successful firm chief.

‘Good Partner 2’ pairs Cha Eun-kyung, a managing partner for whom divorce is second nature, with Kang Hye-sung, played by Kim Hye-yoon, an experienced attorney who approaches divorce cases with deep sincerity. The two lawyers, different in method and mindset, become each other’s “good partners” in what SBS describes as a refreshing divorce show. Writer Choi Yu-na, herself a divorce-specialist attorney, returns to pen the season, with director Seo Min-jung at the helm.

Jang Na-ra spoke about what it meant to revisit a character she has already lived with for a full season. “I was grateful to have the opportunity to participate in a drama that is getting a second season,” she said. “Meeting viewers again as the same character was a truly unique experience. The character of Cha Eun-kyung itself had many adventurous sides, so playing her again also made me feel cautious.”

Asked what has changed most about Cha Eun-kyung, Jang Na-ra pointed to empathy. “I think [Cha Eun-kyung] has come to empathize more deeply with her clients’ stories as she established Rebom,” she said. “In a way, Rebom itself will be Cha Eun-kyung. I tried to let go of as much of the pressure and ambition associated with the previous season as possible and approach the role with a relaxed mindset so viewers can watch the show comfortably.”

The stills follow a teaser campaign that has already set up the season’s central rivalry. In the first teaser video, Cha Eun-kyung faces off against Kang Hye-sung in court from their very first meeting. When Cha advises her new colleague to “broaden your perspective,” Kang refuses to back down, declaring, “I will definitely win.” Kang, a tenacious attorney who has fought her way through debt collection and civil and criminal cases, is positioned as the one opponent who will not simply defer to the veteran’s reputation.

The new season also widens the world around its leads. At the drama’s table read, P.O appeared as Jeon Eun-ho, an attorney who moves to Rebom alongside Cha Eun-kyung and serves as a “human translator” smoothing out her blunt communication style, while Park Hae-jin joined as Park Tae-soo, the managing attorney of the rival Taesoo Law Firm, who will compete directly with Cha Eun-kyung for the top spot in the divorce field. An earlier teaser poster showed Cha smiling confidently beside an empty chair reserved for her new partner, with the tagline, “Looking for a partner to join my second divorce show.”

That expanded canvas is the season’s stated ambition. Where Season 1, which aired in 2024, centered on the clashing personalities of veteran Cha Eun-kyung and rookie lawyer Han Yu-ri, played by Nam Ji-hyun, the production team has said Season 2 goes a step beyond divorce proceedings to focus on the lives and choices that continue after a marriage ends. For Cha Eun-kyung, who left her former firm to found Rebom, the new cases are framed as a search for a fresh start for her clients, not just a verdict.

The stakes for the sequel are high because of how large Season 1 became. The first season peaked at 17.7 percent in nationwide ratings, and Jang Na-ra’s performance earned her the Grand Prize at the 2024 SBS Drama Awards. A second season of a Korean drama remains relatively rare, and the return of both its star and its writer signals SBS’s confidence that the divorce-lawyer premise has more ground to cover.

‘Good Partner 2’ premieres on SBS on November 20 at 9:50 p.m. KST, airing in the Friday-Saturday slot. With Cha Eun-kyung now running her own firm and facing a partner who refuses to lose, the season’s central question is no longer whether she can win a case, but what kind of lawyer she becomes when she is the one in charge.
