Trot legend Jang Yoon-jung has revealed she once took the stage in pouring rain despite the risk of electrocution — a story that brought her father to tears in the audience.
In an October 22 video from her YouTube channel, Jang recalled the incident from a past outdoor concert in Jeonju, a few years after her breakout hit “Eomeona” made her a star, MyDaily reported on October 23.
Jang said rain started falling during rehearsal and only grew heavier. The instruments were covered with vinyl sheets, and while the band’s area could be sheltered with a tent, her own spot on stage could not. Staff warned her about the electrocution risk from the microphone and asked her to sign a waiver. Her father explained that if an accident happened, the liability would fall on her.
“The rain kept pouring, but the audience stayed in their raincoats and waited. How could I not go out? So I went out and performed,” she said. Her father, who was watching from the seats, recalled: “I cried my heart out. Nothing shameful about it. The rain poured over my face, so no one could even tell I was crying. Near the end, I was wailing and thanking the people sitting next to me.”
No agency statement was issued — the story was a personal recollection shared on her own channel. For the pair, it remains a night when the show went on, rain or not.
