Kim Ye-chan Reinterprets Lee Young-hyun's Classic Ballad with New Single 'Sorry, Because I Love You…' cover

Vocalist Kim Ye-chan is giving one of K-ballad’s most loved classics a new voice. Her reinterpretation of Lee Young-hyun’s “Sorry, Because I Love You…” (“Mianhae, Saranghaeseo…”) was released on October 14 at 6 p.m. KST on online music sites.

According to a report by MHN Sports, the new version restructures the original arrangement. A restrained intro builds the emotion gradually before the back half of the song surges, deepening the ballad’s emotional weight.

The original song was the title track of Lee Young-hyun’s first solo album in 2009. Known for its straightforward lyrics about longing and heartbreak after a breakup, it remains one of the most enduring breakup ballads of its era.

Kim Ye-chan brings a heavyweight resume to the project. She debuted in 2015 with the girl group Awesome Baby, then served as main vocalist of Pink Fantasy in 2018. She began building her solo name on JTBC’s “Sing Again 3” in 2023, later won ENA’s “Undercover,” and finished seventh on JTBC’s “Sing Again 4.”

No official statement was available beyond the report. The single marks her latest step in a solo career built on proven vocal power.

“Sorry, Because I Love You…” is now available on major streaming platforms as of 6 p.m. KST on October 14.
