tvN’s 20th-anniversary weekend drama “100 Days of Lies” keeps climbing. Episode 2, which aired October 11, averaged 8.3% in the Seoul metropolitan area with a 9.4% peak, and 7.6% nationwide with an 8.5% peak, according to Nielsen Korea’s paid-platform figures.
According to DongA.com’s recap via Naver, the episode closed with an unexpected reunion. Lee Ga-kyung (Kim Yoo-jung) slipped into a Jongno pawnshop to sell bullets, only to find Sato Hideo (Park Jin-young) there. He hooked her foot to stop her from fleeing, wrapped an arm around her waist, and grinned, “Got you, pickpocket.”
The episode centered on a failed assassination attempt. Geum Seok-jung (Kam Woo-sung), disguised as a cake deliveryman, opened fire on Sato Shinichi (Jin Seon-kyu), triggering a shootout in which Suzuki (Kim Do-hyun) was gunned down. Amid the chaos, Yu So-ran (Kim Hyun-joo) dropped a bombshell: the man she had been trying to kill is her own husband, missing for 13 years.
A flashback revealed the reason for her hatred. Geum Seok-jung once led a village independence movement, was arrested by Japanese forces, and watched his young daughter Geum Seo-hee die before his eyes. The massacre was ordered by the man now serving as political affairs chief, Sato Shinichi. It also explains why Yu So-ran calls Lee Ga-kyung by her dead daughter’s name, “Seo-hee.”
With the revenge plot deepening and the two leads’ fates now tangled, all eyes turn to how episode 3 performs next weekend.
