Cooking researcher Lee Hye-jung has opened up about the childbirth memory she never quite got over — and her husband, obstetrician Go Min-hwan, comes off colder than his patients would expect.
According to a Segye Ilbo report, Lee appeared on the October 10 episode of MBN’s variety program “Sokpuri Show Dongchimi.” She said Go was famous as a warm, caring doctor to his patients, but was far more indifferent to her during her pregnancy and delivery.
On delivery day, Lee recalled, Go — seemingly mindful of his junior doctors’ eyes — told her “don’t make a fuss” and walked out. He even left the hospital to eat a meal just before the delivery, and only returned afterward. After a difficult birth, the comforting words she had hoped for never came. Instead, he said: “You had a son, not bad.”
Lee said the person who actually comforted her was her father-in-law — also an OB-GYN — who stroked her head after the delivery. Even her mother-in-law reportedly told her she wished her husband had treated her the same way.
Lee said the hurt lingered because all she had wanted at the most difficult moment of her life was a warm word and a spouse by her side. No response from Go Min-hwan was mentioned in the report.
