Former announcer Lee Hye Seong shared her candid thoughts on marriage in a video posted October 13 to her YouTube channel, “Lee Hye Seong’s 1% Book Club.”
The video, titled “With whom must one marry to be happy?” (translated), opens with her introducing Yang Gui-ja’s novel “Contradiction.” She called the choice of whom to spend one’s life with “the most important decision in life,” adding that choosing to live alone is also a valid option, according to a Herald Muse report carried on Naver’s entertainment wire.
She reflected on how marriage now comes in many forms: couples living together without registering their marriage, married couples living apart, and even open marriages with a partner.
“Women today can build wealth through their own efforts,” Lee said. “Even if I get married, I want to keep working and improving myself until the day I die.”
No official statement beyond the video was available. Lee Hye Seong, formerly linked with broadcaster Jun Hyun Moo before their reported breakup, has been running her book-focused channel as her main platform.
