Director Lee Yong-jae and the cast of the comedy film ‘Suneung, Chuljeui Bimil’ took the stage at the 31st Busan International Film Festival on October 9.
According to KBS Entertainment, Lee Yong-jae, Lee Sun-bin, Yoo Jae-myung, Kim Young-min, and Jeon Seok-ho joined the open talk at Busan Cinema Center, which was also streamed online. A large crowd gathered, filling the venue with laughter and applause.
The film is a mission comedy set inside the sealed headquarters where the national college entrance exam (Suneung), a level-2 state secret, is produced. Small-town Korean teacher Maeng Boram, played by Lee Sun-bin, accidentally joins the team sealed in for 40 days and scrambles to produce “problem-free” questions.
Lee said that despite having watched the film roughly a thousand times while editing, the screenings with BIFF audiences were the most fun, and the audience’s laughter gave him courage. He described the film as a story about good adults, carrying the hope that sincerity always wins.
Lee Sun-bin said just being invited to the festival was an honor, and that the sold-out screenings feel like a dream.
The cast also shared behind-the-scenes laughs: Yoo Jae-myung revealed Kim Young-min had prepared for about a month for a shirtless scene, showing up on set already warmed up with push-ups, while Kim admitted he secretly worked out at the gym at the Muju filming location.
The film opens in theaters nationwide on October 28.
