Ock Joo-hyun’s side has issued an official statement on the auction of her Hannam-dong house, saying the matter arose during business expansion and debt restructuring, and that the investment company involved will repay the related loan in full.
The singer and musical actor’s representatives addressed the issue on October 30, after news emerged that a house in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, which Ock Joo-hyun purchased in April, had gone to auction. The statement came from Gemstone E&M, acting on Ock Joo-hyun’s behalf, according to Sports DongA.
According to the agency, Ock Joo-hyun had been preparing new business ventures across performance, performance planning, and education, built around her corporation’s existing building in Sinsa-dong. During that process, she attracted a large-scale investment from a business investment company, the agency said.
The Hannam-dong house was purchased in April as part of that business and investment process, the statement said. More recently, a merger and acquisition deal between Ock Joo-hyun’s corporation and the investment company was concluded, and the parties are now working through the process of settling existing matters, including debts tied to the house.
On the auction itself, the agency said it was intertwined with the business process and the debt settlement process. “We are currently proceeding with specific debt repayment and settlement procedures with the investment company, and in line with the business plan, the investment company is scheduled to repay the full amount of the related loan,” the statement said.
The agency closed by saying it would continue with the necessary procedures so that the matter can be resolved smoothly. No further details about the size of the loan or the timeline for repayment were disclosed in the statement.
The statement frames the auction not as a personal financial collapse but as a byproduct of corporate restructuring: an asset acquired during an investment round, now being settled as the two companies combine and clean up their books. Whether that explanation settles public curiosity will depend on the repayment actually going through as promised.
For now, the official position is clear. Ock Joo-hyun’s side says the debt will be repaid in full by the investment company, and that the parties are already working through the formal settlement steps. No official statement was available beyond the agency’s remarks.
