RESCENE's 'with' Tops Melon Top 100 in Two Hours as 'PULSE' Sweeps Top 10 cover

RESCENE’s “With” reached No. 1 on Melon’s Top 100 at 8 p.m. KST on November 3, just two hours after the group’s fourth mini album, “PULSE,” was released at 6 p.m. that day. Newsis reported the feat on November 3, citing the music industry and Melon, from the group’s showcase at Blue Square in Yongsan, Seoul.

The title track overtook “NEON” by nine-member girl group A2O LITE, which had been holding the top spot. By 9 p.m., the chart sweep had widened: four of the five tracks on “PULSE” were inside the Top 10, with “Finest Thing” at No. 5, “Inside Out” at No. 6 and “MEME” at No. 10, alongside “With” at No. 1, while “Dragon” sat at No. 11. Counting the group’s earlier hit “LOVE ATTACK,” which held No. 4, five of the Top 10 places belonged to RESCENE.

“PULSE” extends the scent-based concept RESCENE has used since debut, reframing it as a heartbeat running through the veins. The album uses musk, described as a base note close to skin temperature, as its linking image, with the idea of perfume applied at pulse points. “With” follows that theme, depicting a run toward a voice that calls out and an encounter with a long-dreamed presence, building from a lyrical introduction into a bursting chorus.

The other tracks carry their own backstories. “Inside Out” draws on member Minami’s eight years of studying calligraphy, while singer-songwriter and producer EJAE, known for work on the music of Netflix animation “KPop Demon Hunters,” took part in the composing lineup. The Muze Entertainment CEO Lee Ju-heon wrote lyrics for all of the album’s songs, according to the report. No direct agency statement was quoted beyond the chart figures cited.

The result matters because it follows, rather than repeats, RESCENE’s earlier breakthrough. “LOVE ATTACK,” released in August 2024, climbed back up the charts long after release and reached No. 1 on Melon Top 100 in July, a reverse run that was described as a small-agency miracle. “PULSE” is the group’s first new music in about four months since the July 8 remake single “Pretty Girl,” and its November 3 date was confirmed in mid-October.

The test now is staying power: whether “With” can hold the top spot will show whether RESCENE’s chart strength has become a lasting one.
