Shin Min-a Reveals She and Kim Woo-bin Have Donated Over 5 Billion Won on 'You Quiz' cover

Shin Min-a has revealed that her cumulative donations with husband Kim Woo-bin have surpassed 5 billion won, sharing the milestone during her appearance on tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block.’

According to MHN Sports, Shin spoke about the donations on the October 28 episode of the talk show, the 366th episode of the long-running program. The report, published on October 29, said the couple’s giving had drawn attention alongside Shin’s first appearance on the show in six years.

“I wanted to help people whom many hands had not reached,” Shin said on the program, as quoted in the report, describing the sincerity and sense of reward behind her donations. The report did not break down the donations by recipient or time period, and no further details about individual gifts were included.

The episode itself was a ratings success. MHN Sports reported that it ranked first in its time slot across cable and general programming channels, with peak ratings of 5.2 percent nationwide and 5.4 percent in the Seoul metropolitan area. It also ranked first across all channels, including terrestrial broadcasters, among tvN’s core 20-49 audience, and placed third in the TV-OTT non-drama buzz rankings for the fourth week of October, according to Good Data Corporation’s FUNdex.

The episode, themed around giving one’s all, also featured the seven members of the Nuriho Kids team, psychiatrist Yoon Hong-gyun, and 93-year-old designer Jin Tae-ok, who is in her 62nd year of activity. The young satellite developers shared how they succeeded in deploying their satellite GBSAT during the fifth launch of the Nuri rocket on October 7 after four years of work.

For Shin, the appearance was also a chance to talk about her upcoming work. She discussed behind-the-scenes stories from filming ‘The Remarried Empress’ and shared glimpses of daily life around her first wedding anniversary with Kim Woo-bin. The Disney+ series, in which she stars alongside Ju Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk, and Lee Se-young, premieres on November 4, and its painted posters were unveiled just days before the ‘You Quiz’ broadcast.

The donation milestone capped an appearance that mixed personal reflection with promotion for the new series, giving viewers a rare extended look at one of Korea’s most private star couples as Shin prepares to return to the screen.
