Rapper-turned-actor Swings is meeting the debate over his historical-drama acting with a joke, sharing a scene from the short-form drama “Gwang-an: The Crown Prince’s Woman” and claiming he was too drunk to remember filming it.
On October 15, Swings posted the clip on his personal SNS, according to Xports News. In the scene, he plays Nam-hyul, a disrobed monk-turned-royal guard, shown with his head bowed while performing in a drunken state.
His caption read: “Was that actually filmed? I was so drunk I don’t even remember,” a playful take on the “method acting” framing some viewers had attached to his performance.
The post follows divided reactions to earlier released scenes, in which Swings delivered lines like “Should I just kill them all?” and “Buddha just gave me a brilliant idea.” Some viewers said his speech sounded “too modern,” joking that he came across as “a Joseon person from America” or simply as “Swings himself.”
Others disagreed, saying his acting was “better than expected” with a “subtly absorbing tone,” and praising his diction as a rapper.
No official statement was available from his agency. But with the short-form drama continuing to roll out scenes, his self-deprecating response is pulling fresh attention back to both the show and the acting debate surrounding it.
