Rapper Swings has unveiled a jaw-dropping first look at his sageuk debut. On October 12, he posted the official poster for Lezhin Snackâs short-form drama âGwang-an: The Crown Princeâs Woman,â revealing his transformation into Nam Hyul, the crown princeâs royal bodyguard.
Rather than using his stage name, Swings introduced the cast under his birth name, Moon Ji-hoon: Sung Joon as Yi Hyeon, the âmad-eyedâ crown prince known as Gwang-an; Chuu as Eun-woo, an assassin disguised as a court lady; and Moon Ji-hoon as Nam Hyul, the princeâs friend and bodyguard.
In the poster, Swings is nearly unrecognizable: a full bushy beard, a traditional topknot, and the red uniform of a Joseon-era royal guard, standing watch behind Sung Joonâs crown prince. The drama is a palace romance based on a webtoon of the same name, with all episodes dropping on October 22 at 5 p.m. KST through Lezhin Snack.
Fans greeted the transformation with delight and disbelief. Comments reported on the post ranged from âHe really looks like he came straight out of that eraâ to âIs this AI?â, as the rapperâs hip-hop image vanished completely behind the period costume.
Swings debuted as a rapper in 2008 and rose to fame as a contestant and later judge on Mnetâs âShow Me The Money.â He recently began acting, debuting on screen as Abraham in the film âTazza: Belzebubâs Song,â which opened last month. All eyes are now on what the rapper-turned-actor brings to the palace when every episode releases on October 22.
