Veteran South Korean ballad singer Team has signed an exclusive contract with Gemstone E&M, restarting his activities under a new agency home, the company announced on October 26.
According to MHN Sports, Gemstone E&M confirmed the deal on Monday and said it would explore a range of activity directions so Team could present his musical ability and value as an artist more broadly.
Under the agreement, the agency said it will support Team across music production, concerts, broadcasts and digital content, building on his vocal strengths rather than limiting him to a single format. It also said it plans to keep up communication with his existing fans while widening contact with a new generation of listeners.
“Singer Team has signed an exclusive contract,” the agency said. “Going forward, we will explore various directions of activity so that Team can showcase his musical capabilities and value as an artist more broadly.”
Jason Lee, Gemstone E&M’s general manager, said Team’s voice still delivers undiminished resonance as time passes and that he is an artist with his own colour. “So that the capabilities and charm he has can reach the public, we will cooperate closely and continue active support,” Lee said.
Team debuted in 2003 and built his career on ballads including “I Love You,” “Thank You” and “As Much As I Loved.” His signature song “I Love You” is still remembered across generations more than 20 years after its release, a longevity that has kept his name familiar long after his debut era.
Gemstone E&M is a general entertainment company whose roster includes g.o.d members Danny Ahn, Son Ho-young and Kim Tae-woo. The company is also pursuing a full-group project for first-generation girl group Fin.K.L, while its own label Black Squad houses Zelo. With Team joining, the company said it now has a broader lineup spanning groups and solo artists.
Lee framed the cooperation with g.o.d, Fin.K.L and Team as more than revisiting old songs and memories. He said the aim is to build a solid base so artists who represented an era can pursue new possibilities while keeping their own identities.
No first release date was named in the announcement. Team and Gemstone E&M said they will prepare and roll out activities across music, concerts, broadcasts and digital content.
