YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk has shared a new update on the agency’s two upcoming groups. In a statement released on October 14 KST, he confirmed that a five-member boy group and a four-member girl group will record “a number of demo songs we’ve been working on” by the end of this year, adding that a clearer debut timeline will follow once their title tracks are finalized.
According to Soompi, the statement outlined some of YG Entertainment’s plans for the remainder of 2026, including comebacks by BABYMONSTER and TREASURE. It was at the end of this statement that Yang addressed the two new groups directly, noting that together with TREASURE and BABYMONSTER they will “play an important role in shaping YG’s future.”
The girl group is currently going by the project name “NEXT MONSTER.” Earlier this year, Yang announced that YG was preparing to debut both groups, and back in April he said the new boy group was planned for September of this year. The new statement suggests those plans have shifted, with recording — not debut — now the goal for the rest of the year.
In his statement, Yang wrote that he is “personally doing everything I can to ensure they are fully prepared.” He closed with a promise to fans: “I’ll be back toward the end of this year with another YG ANNOUNCEMENT video, bringing you more exciting updates and good news.”
No official debut dates were given. Fans waiting for YG’s next generation will have to watch for that year-end announcement video for the next real timeline.
