Yim Si Wan and Seol In Ah are ready to blur the line between bromance and romance in tvN’s new thriller romance “Love in Disguise.”
At the drama’s press conference on October 14, held via online livestream with director Park Dan-hee and co-stars Kim Jung-hyun and Yeonwoo, the two leads introduced a story built on disguise and secrets. Based on the web novel “Why Don’t You Know I’m a Woman?”, the series follows a murder-suspect chaebol heir and the former special-forces detective who infiltrates his life as his bodyguard secretary — in male drag.
Yim Si Wan plays Yoon Yi-jun, the next heir of the fictional Taegang Group. He joked that the shoot was the most comfortable filming environment of his career and revealed he went through more costume changes here than in all his previous projects combined.
Seol In Ah plays Kang Jae-hee, a Seoul detective from the Army Special Warfare Command who cuts her hair short to pass as a man. She said the disguise let her discover a side of herself she had never seen, and director Park praised her action skills as better than the stunt team.
Yim Si Wan cited Seol Kyung-gu’s performance in “The Merciless” as inspiration for the show’s bromance-romance dynamic. For a ratings pledge, Park suggested a body profile shoot at 10 percent ratings, while Yim Si Wan countered that the whole cast would join only at 20 percent.
