Yoonha Confirms End of C9 Entertainment Contract Amid Unpaid Settlement Dispute, Says She Is Okay cover

Singer Yoonha has confirmed that she ended her exclusive contract with C9 Entertainment, speaking directly to fans on October 26 after a dispute over unpaid settlement payments and more than a decade with the agency.

In a social media post shared on October 26, Yoonha wrote: “Last September, I ended my exclusive contract with C9.” She added that the remaining issues would be settled “within the procedures established by law,” making clear that the separation is not yet fully resolved.

Despite what she described as an unwelcome turn of events, Yoonha struck a forward-looking tone. She told fans she would sort out the issues one by one and return to meet them, writing: “Thank you for waiting, and I will repay you with good music and a good stage.”

She also asked the public not to direct blame toward others at the company. “The artists and staff at C9 are unrelated to this matter,” she wrote. “I would appreciate it if you could keep that in mind.” She closed that message with a brief reassurance to worried fans: “I am okay.”

Her legal representatives had previously said the dispute centred on long-running unpaid settlement payments. According to that account, Yoonha’s side demanded corrective action, but the issue was not resolved, leading her side to formally notify C9 of the contract termination last month. With the relationship of trust described as broken, a full legal dispute — including a claim for the unpaid settlement money — is now expected.

Yoonha debuted in Japan in 2004 and built a reputation as a skilled singer-songwriter, with well-known songs including “Password 486,” “Waiting,” and “Broke Up Today.” Her career has spanned ballads and pop releases that established her as a long-running vocalist rather than a short-lived chart act.

That longevity was underlined in 2022, when the title track “Event Horizon” from the repackaged version of her sixth album staged a major reverse run up the music charts, bringing her renewed attention years after her debut. The song’s late surge became a notable chart comeback for a veteran singer.

For now, Yoonha has not announced a new agency or a dated return. What she has promised is a step-by-step resolution of the remaining issues and a return to fans through music and live performance once the process allows.
