A2O LITE’s Aijing’s mother has apologized for the wage-arrears controversy surrounding a company she used to run, insisting her daughter has nothing to do with the dispute.
According to Newsis, the mother posted a statement on Weibo on October 14. “The amounts I failed to pay on time due to business difficulties are a fault I must take responsibility for,” she wrote. She added that she is discussing solutions with the affected workers and “will take responsibility to the end.”
“This is a matter parents must resolve,” she said, drawing a line between herself and her daughter: “The child has nothing to do with past businesses or disputes.”
The controversy erupted earlier this week when Chinese outlets reported that a Beijing education company run by Aijing’s parents had failed to pay employee wages, with two court enforcement cases filed against the company. KpopFizz’s earlier report noted that no official statement was available at the time — this is the first public response from Aijing’s family.
Aijing, 13, is the youngest member and main dancer of A2O LITE, the rookie girl group from producer Lee Soo-man. The group released its debut single “NEON” on October 13, just days before the allegations surfaced.
The mother’s apology marks a new turn in a dispute that has clouded the group’s debut week.
