Ahn Sung-hoon Reveals He Spent Entire 500 Million Won 'Mr. Trot' Prize on His Parents' Mansion cover

Trot singer Ahn Sung-hoon has revealed that he spent the entire 500 million won prize from his ‘Mr. Trot’ win on a big house for his parents, and gifted his father the foreign car that came as a winner’s perk.

The story came out on episode 342 of KBS2’s ‘Stars’ Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant’, aired October 22. Ahn invited his 15-year friend Song Ga-in — the two debuted under the same agency and endured long unknown years together — and cooked for both of their parents.

Asked whether the house was the one he bought with the prize money, Ahn confirmed: “The ‘Mr. Trot’ prize money was 500 million won,” he said. “I received it and got my parents a house first.” He had never owned a house himself, and the broadcast showed a spacious mansion in a quiet village, with a wide yard, a vegetable garden and landscaped grounds.

“They gave me a nice foreign car as a winner’s perk, so I gifted it to my father,” he said. For himself: “I haven’t bought anything for myself yet. It felt right to take care of my parents first.” His mother added that he gave her a bank card after the win, but at first she could not bring herself to spend a single won of it.

The full episode aired on KBS2 on October 22, according to the Money Today report.
