BABYMONSTER keeps stacking up the numbers: the music video for “I LIKE IT” crossed 100 million views on YouTube around 5:05 PM on October 13, becoming the group’s 18th video to pass the 100-million mark.
According to YG Entertainment, the agency confirmed the milestone through a Korean media report. The video was released on July 6, so it took about three months to reach the milestone — a strong run for a B-side track.
“I LIKE IT” is a cut from the group’s third mini album “CHOOM.” The dance track pairs a country-style guitar riff with an addictive chorus, and its music video won praise for a youth-film-like visual direction and the group’s lively performance. Right after its release, the video topped YouTube’s worldwide trending chart.
YG Entertainment said global fan interest is at a peak, noting that the second world tour is underway and a comeback is on the way: the tour’s momentum and comeback anticipation are driving new subscribers as well as lifting views on previously released songs.
The record comes one day after the title track’s video, “CHOOM,” broke 200 million views on October 12. BABYMONSTER’s channel remains the fastest K-pop girl group channel to reach 10 million subscribers (one year and five months from debut), with total views exceeding 10 billion.
The group has been on its second world tour, “CHOOM,” since its Seoul kickoff in June. Next up is a new song release on October 23 at 1 PM — and if the current pace holds, these view counts will keep climbing.
