Singer Ha Hyunsang is heading to the military. The 1998-born artist announced on October 14 that he will enlist at the end of November, sharing the news himself in a handwritten letter posted to his official fan cafe.
According to JTBC, Ha used the letter to look back on what he described as a turbulent year. He wrote that while he went through many changes as a musician, he also spent the year busy catching up on personal growth, like homework long overdue.
“I’ll enlist in the military at the end of November. I think you may have already expected this,” he wrote. “Personally, I believe this is a truly necessary time for me. I’ll fulfill my duty to the nation while refining my body and mind, and come back ready for a wonderful 30s.”
JTBC reports that Ha will serve in the Army’s military band. The singer was candid about his feelings. “I’m looking forward to it, too. Not that I want to leave right away, though,” he wrote. “Before I go, I’ll have a fun concert and spend the remaining two months in a busy rush.”
That concert is his solo show “Funny Family,” set for October 24 and 25 at Kyung Hee University’s Peace Hall in Seoul — one of his final stages before he begins his service.
