Kim Jong Min announced the happiest news of his life on the October 18 episode of KBS 2TV’s ‘2 Days & 1 Night Season 4’: his wife is 16 weeks pregnant, and the couple is expecting a baby boy.
The Koyote member made the surprise announcement after his castmates pressed him for ‘good news’ during their trip to Seosan. Looking flustered at first, Kim finally said, ‘I have a child on the way,’ adding that the pregnancy is at 16 weeks and in the stable phase, according to reports from KBS Entertainment, Star News, TV Daily, and Xports News.
Kim said the couple learned of the pregnancy during a trip to China, and shared the story behind the baby’s nickname, ‘Jjingi’ — a blend of ‘Beijing’ and the calf from his taemong dream, in which he hugged a flying calf and fed it milk. He also showed the members the ultrasound photo, saying the baby is already about 10 centimeters long.
‘It’s amazing that I’m becoming a father,’ Kim said, grinning. ‘Hearing it’s a son, I feel relieved — like I’ve gained a reliable lifelong friend.’
Kim married his non-celebrity wife, 11 years his junior, last April, according to the reports. He had already hinted at the news on the October 7 broadcast of KBS 2TV’s ‘The Return of Superman.’ His castmates, including Dindin and Lee Yong Jin, celebrated the news on the spot.
