Breaking: Rapper Billstax Indicted on Drug Charges, Agency Admits 'Same Mistake Repeated' cover

Rapper Billstax will face trial yet again after being indicted for violating South Korea’s drug control laws, his agency confirmed on October 21.

MK Sports reported that the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office indicted the rapper on charges of purchasing and using marijuana. His agency, 스꺼러갱비즈니스, issued an official statement the same day acknowledging the indictment.

Prosecutors allege that Billstax bought marijuana and marijuana jelly from a drug dealer in his 30s last November and inhaled them.

The agency said it had “faithfully cooperated” with the police and prosecution investigations and “deeply reflects” on repeating the same mistake. It also drew a line at some media reports, saying they contain details that differ from the facts.

Billstax is no stranger to drug scandals: he previously received a suspended sentence for smoking marijuana and using ecstasy and cocaine. After releasing a full-length album in 2020, he publicly argued that marijuana was not a drug and campaigned for its legalization for recreational use, sparking heavy backlash.

The irony of a legalization advocate repeatedly landing in court on drug charges has deepened public disappointment, and the rapper now heads to trial once more.
