Seo In Young is looking back on one of the most unusual love stories in K-pop — a three-year romance with a Japanese ex-boyfriend conducted almost entirely without a shared language.
According to a report by Xports News on October 14, the former Jewelry member recalled the relationship in a new video on her YouTube channel, filmed during a trip to Tokyo where she spent time with longtime friends.
During the video, the staff asked her friend — a middle school classmate of 28 years who once served as the couple’s interpreter — how the two ever managed to communicate. Seo explained they got by with hand gestures and a translation app. When the staff expressed surprise that the relationship lasted three full years, she laughed and revealed an unexpected reason: because they could barely speak to each other, they simply held back what they wanted to say.
“Because we couldn’t talk, we actually ended up dating longer,” she said. “You just swallow what you want to say.”
Seo announced in June that she is preparing for remarriage with an older businessman. She previously married another older businessman in 2023 and divorced a year later.
No wedding date for her upcoming remarriage has been made public.
