A famous South Korean rapper in his 40s who appeared on Mnet’s hip-hop competition show “Show Me The Money” has been indicted for allegedly purchasing and using marijuana, Korean media reported on October 20.
According to Sports Dong-A, citing KBS reporting, the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office indicted the rapper, identified only as Mr. A, without detention on October 16 on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
Prosecutors allege that Mr. A purchased marijuana and marijuana-infused jelly from a drug dealer in his 30s, identified as Mr. B, last November. Investigators also believe Mr. A bought marijuana from another dealer this past August.
The case surfaced during the investigation into Mr. B, who allegedly cultivated marijuana at his residence and manufactured marijuana jelly between August 2024 and June of this year. A joint government drug-crime task force arrested and indicted Mr. B in July before tracing his transactions further.
Another alleged buyer was also indicted on October 19, authorities said. Attention has focused on the case in part because Mr. A had publicly advocated for marijuana legalization on multiple occasions, according to reports.
The rapper’s identity has not been publicly disclosed, and no official statement has been issued. The investigation into other alleged buyers is ongoing.
