Arirang TV has spotlighted America Castillo, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) curatorial project manager who co-curated ‘RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me,’ the first museum exhibition built around BTS leader RM’s personal collection.
The exhibition, which opened at SFMOMA on October 3, pairs RM’s private holdings with the museum’s own collection — 178 works in total — and runs through February 7, 2027, according to Sports Kyunghyang.
Its scope stretches roughly 1,500 years of Korean art, from Chusa Kim Jeong-hui and Gyeomjae Jeong Seon to Joseon white porcelain, alongside modern and contemporary figures including Chang Uc-chin, Kim Whan-ki, Nam June Paik and Yoon Hyung-keun. Works by Donald Judd, Yves Klein, Agnes Martin, Henri Matisse, Georgia O’Keeffe and Mark Rothko appear alongside them. The museum said advance tickets sold out and paid membership sign-ups surged ahead of the opening.
RM recorded the audio guide himself in Korean and English, and the show also offers bilingual exhibition texts plus a music playlist curated around the works.
Castillo, who oversees a team of more than 20 curators at SFMOMA, told Arirang TV she has been exploring how a museum can embrace diverse perspectives and stay close to visitors’ everyday lives. The interview aired October 22.
No official statement from RM’s agency was included in the report.
