HB Entertainment on October 30 denied school bullying allegations linked online to actress Cha Ye-ryun, calling them completely groundless. The statement came a day after an anonymous post accused an unnamed 1985-born actress of bullying a middle school classmate, and after internet users matched clues in that post to Cha.
The post, uploaded on October 29 to Nate Pann, did not name the accused directly. According to Sports Seoul, the writer, identified only as A, claimed repeated harassment and assault by a female classmate during middle school, in classrooms, restrooms, and near the school.
In the account reported by Korean outlets, A said the bullying included repeated slaps to the cheek, at times hard enough to leave the cheek swollen and rupture an eardrum. Those details are A’s claims; no independent evidence supporting them has been publicly confirmed.
A demanded the actress step down from all broadcasts and YouTube activities and apologize sincerely, warning that classmates’ testimony and additional evidence would follow if the claims were denied.
Although the post used no real name, it described the actress as a Junggye Middle School graduate and gave a birth year and an initial. Reports said those clues, with a graduation album image dated February 2001, led online speculation to point to Cha.
HB Entertainment said: “We saw a post related to school violence, but after checking the facts, we confirmed that the allegations are completely untrue.” That short denial is the only official response reported so far.
The timeline moved in a single day: an anonymous allegation on October 29, widespread speculation on October 30, and the agency’s denial the same day. Financial News identified Cha as 41, with the birth name Park Hyeon-ho, matching the 1985 birth year cited in the post.
For now, the public record has three layers that should not be blurred: an anonymous allegation, speculation identifying Cha from circumstantial clues, and a flat agency denial. Sports Seoul noted that, beyond A’s claims, no concrete corroborating facts had been confirmed.
