ILLIT's 'Midnight Fiction' Passes 100 Million Spotify Streams as Debut Album Tracks Keep Climbing cover

ILLIT has added another song to its growing list of Spotify milestones, as ‘Midnight Fiction’ from the group’s debut album has passed 100 million streams on the platform.

According to Spotify data reported on October 30, the track from ILLIT’s first mini album ‘SUPER REAL ME’ had accumulated more than 100 million cumulative plays as of October 28. The milestone makes ‘Midnight Fiction’ the ninth ILLIT song overall to reach 100 million streams on Spotify.

‘Midnight Fiction’ is a modern pop track that rhythmically captures the feeling of a sleepless early morning, with lyrics shaped by the members’ imagination. Lines such as “my body feels like a bird” and “walking with clouds that resemble our home’s dog” give the song its dreamlike, late-night atmosphere, and the track has continued to find new listeners long after the album’s release.

The new milestone follows closely on the heels of another one from the same debut album. On October 25, fellow ‘SUPER REAL ME’ track ‘Lucky Girl Syndrome’ surpassed 200 million cumulative plays, becoming the fifth ILLIT song to reach that higher threshold. The back-to-back milestones underline how durable the group’s debut material has proved to be, with songs from the same 2024 mini album still setting new records in 2026.

ILLIT’s Spotify catalogue now tells a clear story of steady, long-running popularity rather than a single breakout hit. Leading the way is debut title track ‘Magnetic,’ which has reached 900 million streams in the shortest time ever for a debut song by a K-pop group. ‘Cherish (My Love),’ ‘Tick-Tack,’ and ‘NOT CUTE ANYMORE’ have each passed 200 million streams, while ‘Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance),’ ‘jellyous,’ and ‘It’s Me’ have each passed 100 million. ‘Lucky Girl Syndrome’ and now ‘Midnight Fiction’ extend that list further, showing depth across the group’s discography rather than reliance on one title track.

That depth is especially notable because ILLIT debuted only in March 2024. The five-member group was formed through the JTBC survival show ‘R U Next?’ and debuted under BELIFT LAB, a HYBE subsidiary, with ‘SUPER REAL ME’ on March 25, 2024. ‘Magnetic’ became the fastest debut song by a K-pop group to reach 100 million Spotify streams, doing so in just 27 days, and went on to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. More than two years later, the same debut album is still producing new streaming milestones, a pattern that points to listeners discovering the group’s earlier work alongside its newer releases.

The timing also fits with ILLIT’s current comeback momentum. The group’s fifth mini album ‘BREAK EVEN,’ released on October 26, has ranked at the top of major Japanese and Korean album charts, according to reports. Its title track entered Melon’s Top 100 at No. 72 and climbed to No. 5 within four days, and on October 27 it ranked No. 5 on YouTube’s global daily popular music videos chart. The new release and the older catalogue appear to be feeding each other, with fresh attention on the group sending listeners back to songs like ‘Midnight Fiction’ and ‘Lucky Girl Syndrome.’

For a group still early in its career, the ‘Midnight Fiction’ milestone is a useful measure of staying power. Debut albums are often left behind once a group moves on to new concepts and new title tracks, but ILLIT’s first mini album continues to add to its streaming totals track by track. With nine songs now past 100 million streams and five past 200 million, the group’s next milestone to watch will be which debut-era track crosses a threshold next, and whether the ‘BREAK EVEN’ era can build a similarly long tail of its own.
