Veteran actor Hong Gi-jun is juggling screen and stage. According to Sports Kyunghyang, the actor — currently filming the SBS drama “Full Count” — has been cast as Moon-seok in the upcoming stage adaptation of director Jang Hang-jun’s psychological thriller film “Open the Door.”

The play opens on December 5, 2026 and runs through March 7, 2027 at YES24 Art One Hall 3 in Seoul’s Daehakro district. It is co-produced by Contents Hap and BA Entertainment, with adaptation and direction by Oh Se-hyuk, who won the grand prize at the 2025 Seoul Theater Festival.

Hong Gi-jun plays Moon-seok, a man once known as the household’s “fixer” who has lived with a secret as time stood still. Seven years after Yoon-ju’s mother’s death, the estranged Chi-hoon returns to face the truth of a night both men have avoided. The role is triple-cast with Kim Sung-kyu and Lee Si-hyung; Kwak Sun-young and Gong Min-jung play Yoon-ju, while Ahn Woo-yeon, Oh Kyung-ju and Lee Bong-jun share the role of Chi-hoon.

A graduate of Russia’s Shchepkin Theatre University, Hong Gi-jun began on stage before breaking through on screen as detective Park Byung-sik in the 2017 hit “The Outlaws.” His screen credits also include “Stove League,” “Kingdom” and “Big Bet,” while his earlier stage work includes “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf.”

“Full Count,” the SBS baseball drama Hong Gi-jun is currently filming, is slated for 2027. With the play running into March, the veteran actor is set for a busy winter across both mediums.
