Jang Yun-jeong Delays Performance After Police Arrive Over Safety Concerns at Packed Regional Event cover

Trot star Jang Yun-jeong delayed her performance at a packed regional event in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, after police arrived over crowd safety concerns. She revealed the incident in a documentary-style video posted to her YouTube channel on October 15.

According to Sports DongA, the video — “Queen of Events Jang Yun-jeong’s Documentary Day 1” — follows the singer from her accommodation to the stage, showing a typical day on the local event circuit that keeps her one of Korea’s busiest live performers.

Jang said the crowd was so large that officers came to the venue fearing a safety hazard, forcing the show to start late. With many children and elderly fans in the audience, she said safety had to come first. She added that the walk from her car to the backstage waiting room is the tensest moment of the day, recalling past incidents when fans opened her car door or rocked the vehicle.

She explained that the police came because so many people had gathered that there seemed to be a safety problem, adding, “We can’t have an accident.” The video also shows her doing her own makeup — “I just do it myself” — and calling her daughter Ha-young on the drive to the venue.

The concert went ahead without incident. Afterward, Jang ate cup ramyeon at a highway rest stop late at night and said she tries to remember the faces of every fan who comes to see her.
