Jung Soo-young, nicknamed the “original clear-eyed beauty,” stole KBS2’s “Malsja Show” with her famously unfiltered charm this weekend. The veteran actress hyped a KBS drama she isn’t even in — then teared up trying to pitch her own new film without blinking.
According to MHN Sports, the 27-year industry veteran appeared on the October 12 broadcast of “Malsja Show“‘s “Sotong Chulchek” corner. Host Malsja Grandma brought up Jung’s 2006 MBC drama “Fantastic Couple,” where her flower-in-the-hair performance is still a viral meme. Jung joked her agency worries about her loose lips, with her manager pacing anxiously in the waiting room.
Ahn Eun-jin, who stars in KBS’s “Neo Malgo Dareun Yeonae,” is Jung’s junior from Korea National University of Arts, and the two grew close working together. “Please support Ahn Eun-jin in KBS’s ‘Neo Malgo Dareun Yeonae.’ By the way — I’m not in it,” she said, drawing cheers from the studio. She then moved on to her own film, “Suneung, Chuljeui Bimil,” a comedy about the people who write the CSAT college entrance exam gathering to create its questions, opening October 28.
Under the show’s signature rule — promote your project for one minute without blinking — tears welled up in Jung’s eyes, but she kept them open and completed the mission to the end.
The eldest of five siblings and a mother of a son, Jung also offered heartfelt advice to a viewer anxious about having a second child, adding that she has passed the same positive energy about childbirth to actress Hwang Bo-ra.
“Suneung, Chuljeui Bimil” opens in theaters on October 28.
