Kang Daniel is dropping new music today — even while serving in the military. The singer will release his new digital single ‘Blue’ at 6 p.m. KST on Oct. 21, his agency ARA announced, marking his first new release since enlistment.
According to a report by AtStar1, ‘Blue’ is an unreleased song Kang Daniel recorded last year and kept in storage, with plans to release it during his service. The strategy keeps his music activity going through the enlistment gap without leaving fans waiting.
‘Blue’ is an R&B track about a couple who feel a spark but can’t quite bring themselves to confess — capturing that hazy space of guessing, but never being sure about, each other’s feelings. Kang Daniel is credited as both lyricist and composer, with musicians BIBLEIN and JUNBEOM handling composition and arrangement. A lyric video made with illustrations that visualize the song’s emotional shifts will arrive alongside the track.
No direct agency statement quote was included in the report beyond the release details.
Kang Daniel enlisted for active duty on Feb. 9 and is currently serving as a drill instructor in the Army’s 25th Recruit Training Regiment. He recently joined the Army’s performance team, and a video of him covering ATEEZ’s song in uniform drew attention online. The Wanna One center, who debuted as a solo artist in 2019, is scheduled for discharge on Aug. 8, 2027.
