Democratic Party Supreme Council Member Kim Min-seok bowed in apology on October 18 after he walked onto the stage during singer HYNN’s (Park Hye-won’s) performance at the Sunchang Jangryu Festival in North Jeolla, briefly bringing her live set to a halt.
According to a TV Daily report published via Naver’s entertainment wire on October 18, Kim attended the festival on October 15. While HYNN was performing, the MC introduced him, and he stepped up onto the stage to deliver a greeting to the crowd.
HYNN stopped her performance and stepped down from the stage, resuming only after Kim finished his remarks. A video of the scene quickly spread online, where netizens criticized inserting a politician’s remarks into the middle of a live performance, calling the move thoughtless.
In an SNS post on the 18th, Kim wrote, “There was an unfortunate situation for the singer and the audience during the Sunchang festival performance,” adding, “I apologize to singer Park Hye-won and the audience members for any discomfort I caused.”
He also explained that he had told organizers he would not offer greetings during the performance and was looking around the venue when the MC suddenly called his name, prompting him to take the stage.
The video continued to circulate online as of October 18, with netizens still debating whether an unscheduled greeting was appropriate during an artist’s live set.
