Lee Da-hae made a surprise appearance on a Chinese live-commerce broadcast and helped it generate about 20 billion won in sales in just two hours.
According to Sports Seoul on October 18, the actress — who is expecting her first daughter in November — joined the Singles’ Day (双十一) special live broadcast hosted by Chinese influencer Dandan, sharing photos from the set on her own social media.
“Making a surprise rush as support troops for the wonderful woman Dandan’s Singles’ Day special live broadcast!” Lee wrote alongside photos of herself in an elegant dress, posing with Dandan and smiling brightly with local staff despite her pregnancy.
The broadcast was a large-scale operation: around 500 staff were on site and five electric cars were offered as giveaway prizes. Per the report, the show pulled in about 100 million yuan — roughly 20 billion won — in sales in two hours.
Lee also expressed her gratitude toward Dandan: “You, who kept thanking me for coming all the way to Hangzhou while pregnant and kept looking out for me and caring for me,” she wrote. “As I always think, you’re like an older sister to me, not a younger one. And your boundless energy is truly amazing. The lively atmosphere of a live broadcast with so many people — it was great to feel it again after so long!”
Dandan is a leading Chinese wanghong primarily active on Kuaishou, who in 2024 became the first female streamer on Chinese platforms to surpass 100 million followers.
Lee rose to fame in China through the 2005 drama “My Girl” and is fluent in Chinese. She married singer Seven in May 2023, and the couple announced her pregnancy this past May. She is set to welcome her first daughter in November.
