Moon Ga-young Reportedly Set to Lead Choi Dong-hoon's New Film 'Sparrow' cover

Moon Ga-young is reportedly set to take the lead in director Choi Dong-hoon’s upcoming film ‘Sparrow’.

According to an exclusive report by JTBC Entertainment News on October 22, an industry insider said the actress “will join the new film directed by Choi Dong-hoon.” The project, titled ‘Sparrow’ (참새), is Choi’s latest big-screen outing after a string of blockbuster hits.

Moon’s agency Fantagio responded cautiously to the report, telling JTBC: “It is true that she has been offered the role.” The agency did not go further in confirming the casting.

The report notes that Choi is currently in the final stages of script work on ‘Sparrow’ while lead casting is being finalized, setting up what could be one of the most-watched collaborations in Korean cinema next year.

Moon debuted as a child actress in the 2006 horror film ‘Bloody Reunion’ and has built a steady filmography since. She earned the Best Actress award in the film division at the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards for her performance in last year’s ‘If We…’.

Choi Dong-hoon is one of Korea’s most bankable directors, known for the 10-million-viewer hits ‘The Thieves’ (2012) and ‘Assassination’ (2015).

No official confirmation of the final casting was available at the time of reporting.
