SBS has unveiled the first stills of Park Hae-jin as Park Tae-soo in “Good Partner 2,” introducing the actor as the new rival who will shake up the hit legal drama ahead of its premiere on November 20.
The stills, released on November 2, show Park Tae-soo consulting a client, smiling with relaxed confidence, and standing in court without a smile. The Friday-Saturday drama is directed by Seo Min-jung and written by Choi Yu-na, a divorce lawyer. It stars Jang Na-ra as Cha Eun-kyung, Kim Hye-yoon as Kang Hye-seong, Pyo Ji-hoon, and Park Hae-jin.
Park Tae-soo heads the law firm Taesoo and aims to become the top divorce lawyer in the field. He has built a public profile through his channel, which has 200,000 subscribers, and is described as a lawyer with sharp business instincts. His firm will compete directly with Cha Eun-kyung’s firm, Rebom. Park Tae-soo believes that a lawyer is in a service profession, putting the client’s interests first, and he is willing to make bold moves in court when victory and profit are at stake.
Park said he had enjoyed watching the first season and was already looking forward to a second season when he received the offer. “There was a burden in joining a successful first season as a new character, but the character Tae-soo was interesting, and I thought I could show a new side of myself, so I chose it,” he said.
He described Park Tae-soo as the most realistic character in “Good Partner 2”: a legal professional, a businessman, and a YouTuber. “Tae-soo is like a breathing hole that lets viewers release tension in a story that could otherwise become heavy,” Park said. “I pursued a relatively light character and tried to act as human and comfortable as possible.”
The casting adds a new axis to a familiar pairing. Park made his drama debut in 2006 with “Famous Chil Princesses” and has since appeared in “My Love From the Star,” “Doctor Stranger,” “Cheese in the Trap,” “Man to Man,” and “Kkondae Intern.” In the new season, Cha Eun-kyung and Kang Hye-seong become good partners navigating life after divorce.
“Good Partner 2” premieres on November 20 at 9:50 p.m. on SBS. The key question for the opening episodes will be how Park Tae-soo’s client-first, win-at-all-costs approach collides with Cha Eun-kyung’s established practice.
