Actor Seo Hyun-woo revealed he gained more than 20 kilograms for his role in the film “Decision to Leave” — and even received Chinese lessons from co-star Tang Wei, recalling the experience during an MBC radio appearance on October 22.
Seo appeared as a guest on MBC FM4U’s “Perfect Day with Lee Sang-soon,” in the show’s “Taste Sharing” segment, Korean outlet Newsen reported. He recently played Yang Jun-ho in the Tving series “Lotto Winner Also Goes to Work” (로또 1등도 출근합니다).
When DJ Lee Sang-soon asked whether any character or work stands out in his memory regardless of the role’s size, Seo said each of his roles leaves a strong visual impression — but he singled out “Decision to Leave,” in which he played the Chinese suspect Sa Cheol-seong.
“From a state where I had slimmed down to a very thin frame, I gained back twenty-some kilograms for that work,” he recalled. “I practiced Chinese and received Chinese lessons from Tang Wei, and it’s a work I put a lot of effort into.”
Lee also asked how Seo switches between filming multiple projects at once. The actor said he gets confused, so he divides his mind into several rooms — the most important being the “half-body bath room.” When he zones out on set, he briefly “visits” that room.
No further details were shared about upcoming projects.
