SEVENTEEN members Seungkwan and Dino began their mandatory military service together on October 26, enlisting on the same day and closing out the group’s round of enlistments.
According to a report by The Fact published on October 26, the two members will complete basic military training before serving as military band soldiers in the Army.
Their joint enlistment makes them the last runners in the team to begin service, the report said. With Seungkwan and Dino now in uniform, every SEVENTEEN member subject to mandatory service has either completed it or is currently serving.
Pledis Entertainment, SEVENTEEN’s agency, asked fans not to visit the enlistment site in person. “As the enlistment ceremony at the training center on the day of enlistment is a place shared by many soldiers and their families, please refrain from visiting the site,” the agency said, according to the report.
Jeonghan was the first SEVENTEEN member to enlist and has already returned to fans, having come back in June. Wonwoo, Vernon and Mingyu are serving as social service workers, while Woozi, Hoshi and DK enlisted as active-duty Army soldiers.
Leader S.Coups was exempted from service after a cruciate ligament rupture, the report said, leaving Seungkwan and Dino as the final members to begin their duty.
With the two now in service, SEVENTEEN continues into its military blank period, the stretch in which group activities are shaped around members’ service schedules. The joint enlistment marks the point at which no member subject to service is left waiting to begin.
Both members head into service straight from busy solo schedules. Dino recently wrapped his first solo concert series, playing six shows across Seoul and Macao, while Seungkwan has been appearing weekly on Sundays in the second season of MBC’s variety show Rookie Director Kim Yeon-koung.
With the group’s enlistment chapter now complete, attention turns to when the members will be able to stand on stage together again, a reunion fans will now have to wait for until the service terms run their course.
