Yoo Jae Suk Addresses Health Rumors, Reveals Same-Day Filming Cancellation Was Just a Bad Cold cover

Yoo Jae-suk has personally addressed the swirling rumors about his health, revealing that his recent same-day filming cancellation was caused by nothing more than a bad cold — not the serious illness some reports had suggested.

The explanation came on episode 62 of the SBS variety show “틈만 나면,” which aired on October 20. The episode showed Yoo meeting Yoo Yeon-seok, Chae Soo-bin, and Shin Seung-ho in Seoul’s Gwanghwamun district, where he opened with an apology for abruptly calling off the recording. It was the first time in his 36-year career that he had canceled a shoot on the day of filming, according to Money Today.

Yoo explained that his throat had swollen severely from the cold, and that he called off the shoot out of concern that he might spread the virus to the cast and production staff. He apologized to them repeatedly throughout the episode.

“I was sick, but the articles exaggerated it too much,” Yoo said. “Everyone thinks I have a serious illness, but it was just a simple cold.”

He added that a hospital visit and an injection brought the swelling down almost immediately. “Fortunately, after getting a shot at the hospital, my throat subsided right away,” he said. He even called the production team to ask whether they could still film that day, but the staff had already headed home.

Yoo closed by saying that was how quickly he had recovered, thanking everyone who had worried about him and apologizing again for the last-minute disruption.
