Actress Yoon Mi-ra has revealed she was targeted by a cosmetics delivery scam and is warning fans to stay alert after being pressured to pay 600,000 won for products she never ordered.
In a video posted to her YouTube channel on Thursday, Yoon recounted the bizarre ordeal, which unfolded on the day of a video shoot, according to TV Daily.
Yoon said she had received sales calls from a cosmetics company before and politely declined, telling them she would reach out when she needed something. But on filming day, a package arrived. She had never placed an order, so she was puzzled — but the luxurious box made her think it was a gift, so she opened it.
After she tried the products, the company contacted her and demanded payment, telling her that because she had used the full-size items instead of samples, she owed them money. When immediate payment was difficult, Yoon said, the sellers pushed installment plans.
“I never asked them to send anything. Trying to sell this way is clearly fraud,” Yoon said, adding that she was furious at the demand.
Yoon warned that ordinary people could easily fall for the same scheme. “There is no such thing as free in this world,” she said. “I was deeply upset by all of this.”
